Pinole’s Not So Lovely Landscape

21 Jan 2012 / 0 Comments / in Photography, Pix a Day

Pinole is an interesting place. The name is odd so this is what Wikipedia said.

The name derives from “pinole”, a Native American word for a kind of flour made from the seeds of maize, chia, and various other grasses and annual herbs. An expedition under Pedro Fages was said to have run out of provisions while exploring the area, and been fed pinole by a local village, and so the Spaniards named their camp “El Pinole”.

Weekend in San Mateo

Crystal Springs  +  Seal Point Park

San Mateo is a suburb about 30 miles south of the City of San Francisco. While it isn’t typically a tourist attraction, I find that it has some of the most scenic hilly landscapes in the bay. I watched a sunset and a sunrise there and I find it absolutely magical.

2012-01-13 Long Exposure Speed Photography

I’ve been obsessing this for a while now and finally I got a chance to try it out. So I’ve always wanted to create something that looked unrealistic that had a sense of speed in it. The shoot involved mounting a tripod to my Mazda MX 5 and shooting a bunch of pictures while driving to and in San Francisco.

IR Photography! IR stands for Infra Red. It basically take the heat signature readings of a scene and capture it. Usually the result is a really dark and red image.

The lens I borrowed from KK Yu  LINKY has 72mm cap. Now I can use all those filters I haven’t used in a very very long time. IR/ ND …, so excited. And the IR images look good on the EP1.

Pix a Day: 2011

01 Jan 2012 / 0 Comments / in Pix a Day

My 2011 Pix a day Album. Every day for the year of 2011, I took a photo to try to help me remember what was going on that day. When I look back at it, I can actually recall the things that occurred to me on that day.  I didn’t know I could last so long but I did it for 3 years now. In addition, you can see the progress routes I took. I am much better at composition of people and landscapes and starting to get into lighting. 2011 was an interesting year, I’ve decided that what I really wanted to do in this world is become an architectural photographer. I hope I can succeed. Its a difficult field and essentially I am starting my own business. There’s no way to do it without going all in….. Wish me best of luck. !!

UFAB Portraits

For our Professional Practice Class, we had to come up with a plan on how to become successful architecture offices.

However, we all know that we all need a plan to get things done, I feel this exercise did not paint a realistic scenario. Never the less, we made profile portraits for our website to show we are up and coming architectural designers that teach at various institutions in the World and are based in Boston.
